Garbage Collection

Garbage is collected weekly in the village at a $13/month, which is part of the utility bill. Unless a holiday conflicts the regular collection day is Friday and the limit is two bags per household.
A private contractor provides service in the rural areas.

Emo Landfill Site

We are now the district ELECTRONICS RECYCLING COLLECTION SITE!!!

We also accept all USED TIRES free of charge.

The Emo Landfill Site is supervised three days a week for seven hours a day:
Tuesday 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 pm (June 1 - September 30)
Tuesday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (October 1 - May 31)
Thursdays and Saturdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
No exceptions.

  • Identification cards are currently being issued to residents of the Township.
  • There is no fee to use the landfill site except for disposal of fridges with freon, if you are a taxpayer or a resident of Emo.
  • There is a $50/year fee if you live within the 482 exchange, but not within the Township of Emo, to use the dump and be issued an identification card.

Recycling

NON-residents may pick up a "GREEN" recycling card at the Emo Municipal Office to bring their recyclables - electronics and tires to the Emo landfill Site FREE OF CHARGE

Recycling bins are located at the Emo Municipal Garage.
Removal of recycling materials is considered theft.
Please put all recyclables in bins, not on the ground.
 
Cardboard boxes must be dismantled and flat prior to placing in bins.

Help reduce landfill site costs by recycling the following:

  • Tin cans
  • Newspapers/magazines/office paper
  • Shredded paper
  • Cardboard
  • All plastics
